The Center for New Testament Textual Studies Textual Database/Critical Apparatus provides an extensive list of New Testament textual variants arranged in a textual apparatus format. Included in the apparatus is a list of variants, a list of manuscripts supporting the variant readings, and tagging of the variants according to type of variant. Does the CNTTS module contain an LXX (Septuagint, Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible) or BHS (Hebrew Bible) apparatus? --No, this module concerns only the New Testament. At this time BibleWorks does not contain critical apparati for the LXX or the Hebrew Bible. 2. How does this module compare to the Nestle-Aland 27th edition (NA27) apparatus? --This BibleWorks module contains every, or very nearly every, variant reading for all the manuscripts mentioned for the New Testament books covered in the module. The NA27, while containing a significant apparatus, is much more limited in the number of variants it displays. 3. How does the BibleWorks version of the CNTTS compare to the Accordance version of the CNTTS? --The data used both by BibleWorks and Accordance is the same. We are unable to answer the question about function, as we have not yet completed our module, so we can't say what function will be included in the database. Also, we have not seen the Accordance module, so we do not know what function it may contain. 4. When would I use this module? --This module is designed for people who want to see whenever there is a variant reading in the Greek New Testament. Pastors, students, scholars, and translators often wish to know if there is a significant variant reading that would affect their interpretation or translation of the Biblical text. 5. What information does this manuscripts work contain? --The CNTTS lists the manuscript evidence for over 100 manuscripts, whenever one is applicable in a passage.
